Professional WORK EXPERIENCE
I am currently employed as the media specialist at a middle school in Gwinnett County. It has been so much fun learning my way around in the world of education! And I love it! My decision to leave the corporate world and enter into education has been reinforced by all of my experiences this past year.
Prior to becoming a media specialist, I began working for an insurance brokerage firm when I first moved to Atlanta in February 2000. I held different positions within the company during my fourteen years there, starting first as an Administrative Assistant in the Financial Services Department, being promoted to an Account Service Representative, and ending in the Graphics department as a Graphic Presentation Specialist. In this role I was responsible for making sure that any presentations, proposals, or other marketing materials going out to clients are graphically appealing and consistent.
I was also responsible for helping plan and coordinate a company sponsored conference for our clients called the Executive Edge. In this role, I handled the arrangement of hotel accommodations and activities for over 200 attendees, among other things.
I was fortunate enough to have been able to travel to some wonderful places and experience some pretty awesome things while helping plan the conference! Check out the photos below! I was able to visit Knibbe Ranch, a working cattle ranch, in San Antonio, Texas. The true Texas Longhorn pictured below was very intimidating to look at, but he was as gentle as a kitten. And yes, that is a real Texas armadillo!
